2007 Urban Adventure Race Winners Announced
thumbnail

Winners were just announced. I didn't catch any of the team names, but it should all be posted on their website in the next 2 days.

Three women dressed as girl scouts won the costume prize. There wasn't much competition, but theirs was pretty tight.

Second place was a tie between two teams and first place was a team of very athletic dudes.

I'll post more when there are details on their website, but I had a hard time hearing in the thick of it.

The Finish Line
thumbnail

We finished early enough to get the max time bonus. Yay! It was a fun race, and pretty exhausting. I wish the clues were a bit more challenging (everyone knew exactly where to go), but I think they did a great job for the first year of this race. The challenges were well thought out and the checkpoints were spaced well and had really good transit options. Good job ORA! ...14 more words Click for full details

Mystery challenge at the finish line
thumbnail

An inflatable obstable course apparently manufactured to fit larger children was the mystery obstacle at the end of the course. It was awkward, and too small, and almost fun.

Pool challenge at henrys
thumbnail

We hit Henry's Tavern last on our walk back to the finish line. We had to sink three pool balls in three hits, including the break. Not gonna happen.

Ping pong challenge at lizard lounge
thumbnail

We took the streetcar down from NW 23rd and Marshall to NW 13th and Lovejoy and walked to Lizard Lounge.

The Ping Pong challenge was a timed rally. Just keep it on the table. We kept it going for 4 minutes, which was enough for max points but not a bonus. Not my team in the picture by the way, but a team that was reverse-stalkin  g us.

On the way to Wallace park
thumbnail

This was while walking through northwest from couch to twenty-third avenue books to wallace. My phone doesn't capture the technicolor vibe these leaves were putting off.

We got the book we needed from 23rd avenue books after calling ahead and having them hold it for us. We debated asking them for the details on page 184 over the phone but determined it to be cheating.

I didn't get a photo of the challenge at couch park, but it was a frisbee long distance toss. We got ...15 more words Click for full details

Egg toss at couch park
thumbnail

We took the 17 up to couch park after missing the 77 (reversing our route from Wallace-Booksto  re-Couch to Couch-Bookstore  -Wallace).

The challenge was to do a three person egg toss in a triangle each about 20 feet apart. Each time around was one point. We were great at this one.

Damn the 77 bus driver - Updated with Widmer Challenge info

He just drove right by us with our hands waving. Now we are waiting for the 17 to head to Wallace park

post mortem update - I missed taking photos or posting about the Widmer Brewery, which was right before we missed this bus. We got to Widmer by walking up SE 12th to Lloyd Center and catching the Blue Line to Rose Quarter TC. We then had 1 minute to catch the Yellow Line MAX leaving from the other side of the TC and we just barely made it.

At Widmer, they had someone from the ...70 more words Click for full details
